| BOI Thailand Marks 60 Years, Strengthens Position as ASEAN's Hub for Future Industries and Investment |
In 2025, investment applications
reached 1.87 trillion baht (US$60.23 billion) across 3,370 projects,
representing a 67 percent increase from the previous year. The positive trend
continued from January to June 2026, with investment applications totaling 1.47
trillion baht (US$47.47 billion), while foreign direct investment (FDI) surged
80 percent to US$44.08 billion.
BOI Secretary General Narit
Therdsteerasukdi said the strong performance reflects growing confidence among
global investors in Thailand's long-term strategy, which focuses on technology,
innovation, and sustainable economic development.
Over the next decade, the BOI will
prioritize six strategic sectors: green and bio-based industries, electric
vehicles (EVs), semiconductors and advanced electronics, artificial
intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, international business hubs, and
automation and robotics. The agency is also strengthening workforce
development, expanding partnerships with global investors, and introducing the
Thailand FastPass initiative to accelerate investment approvals and improve the
ease of doing business.
Established in 1966, the BOI has
played a pivotal role in Thailand's industrial transformation, evolving from an
import-substitution policy to promoting high-value, technology-driven
industries. Its long-term investment policies have attracted leading
multinational companies, including Toyota, Western Digital, Seagate, Delta
Electronics, MinebeaMitsumi, and Nestlé, all of which continue to expand their
operations in Thailand. (*/red).
