DAOFU, CHINA – The 2026 Sichuan Ganzi Mountain Culture and Tourism Festival officially opened at Yuke Grassland in Daofu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. The annual event serves as a vibrant showcase of the rich nomadic heritage of the Kham Tibetan people while promoting the growth of culture-based tourism.

The opening ceremony featured a spectacular performance that brought the traditional nomadic lifestyle to life. A procession of local herders, the legendary Gesar cavalry, and a colorful parade of traditional costumes made from pulu, the distinctive Tibetan handwoven wool fabric, captivated visitors by blending centuries-old cultural traditions with contemporary fashion.

In addition to the cultural performances, the festival offers a variety of attractions, including Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) exhibitions, traditional craft workshops, local product fairs, authentic Tibetan cuisine, and music performances, providing visitors with an immersive experience of life on the Tibetan Plateau.

Now in its seventh edition, the festival ran through July 26, 2026, featuring eight major programs designed to further strengthen Daofu's reputation as one of China's premier cultural and eco-tourism destinations.


Daofu County is renowned for its breathtaking natural scenery, including Yala Snow Mountain, Stone Forest Park, Yuke Grassland, alpine meadows, and Tianlong Lake. Combined with the unique cultural heritage of the Kham Tibetan community, these attractions continue to draw increasing numbers of domestic and international visitors.

Over the past five years, Daofu's tourism industry has experienced remarkable growth. From July 2021 to June 2026, the county welcomed more than 10.4 million visitors and generated approximately 11.45 billion yuan in tourism revenue, underscoring the vital role of culture and tourism in driving the region's economic development.
