Green SM officially launches all-electric taxi service in Palembang, expanding its presence across Sumatra, Indonesia

PALEMBANG, INDONESIA — Green SM has officially launched its all-electric taxi service in Palembang, marking its second expansion in Sumatra after Bandar Lampung and strengthening the company’s push to make zero-emission mobility more accessible across Indonesia.

The launch on September 12, 2026, also introduced the “Green Your Move, Refresh Your City” campaign, supporting the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) initiative on ecosystem and air protection. The campaign encourages residents to choose cleaner transportation as part of efforts to improve urban air quality and create a healthier environment.

Operating a fully electric fleet, Green SM combines zero-emission transportation with professional drivers, transparent pricing, and technology-driven services. The company aims to offer a modern and comfortable mobility experience while contributing to the transition toward more sustainable urban transportation.

The expansion comes as Palembang, one of Sumatra’s major trade and service centers with more than 1.8 million residents, continues to experience economic growth and increasing demand for urban mobility. The city’s sustainable development and smart-city initiatives provide further opportunities for cleaner transportation solutions.

To welcome customers in Palembang, Green SM is offering a series of launch promotions. Customers can receive a 100% discount of up to Rp50,000 from September 12–16, followed by 50% off up to Rp50,000 from September 17–25, and 35% off up to Rp50,000 from September 26 to October 2, 2026.

Beyond transportation, Green SM said its expansion is aimed at building a broader green mobility ecosystem through job creation, local talent development, and collaboration with local stakeholders.

The Palembang launch follows Green SM’s expansion into Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, Bali, and Bandar Lampung. Globally, the company has completed approximately 850 million trips covering nearly 6 billion kilometers, helping avoid more than 800,000 tons of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of around 36 million trees.
